New Zealand PineVeneer yields a strong, versatile, light coloured veneer ideally suited to furniture manufacturing. The product’s even texture allows it to be stained to look like other species and to accept clear finishes evenly. This enables our wood veneers to be used in a wide range of furniture styles and design. Our selection process demands the highest graded log available in New Zealand. We pride ourselves on producing high quality wood veneers, this is attained through a robust in house quality system, with checks and measures taken throughout the various stages of our operation.

The predominant thickness is 0.6mm, this accounts for 80% of our production. We also produce increasing amounts of 1.5mm and 2.2mm veneer for door and door jamb businesses world wide.
GUNNS LIMITED TASMANIAGunns Tasmania is based in Launceston, Tasmania. All logs are PEFC certified logs resourced from the sustainably managed Tasmanian Forest, Gunns Limited also have ISO 14001 Environmental Accreditation and comply to AS4707 Chain of Custody standard, linking the end product back to the source. Gunns Tasmania has three veneer plants, one based in Somerset one in Boyer and the third is based in Western Australia, which produces Jarrah veneer and lumber for the Australian domestic market. The main deep water export port in Tasmania is Bell Bay situated on the Tamar river on the Northern coast above the city of Launceston. From Gunns Tasmania’s veneering operations Tasmanian Oak Veneer is the primary export product. This product’s unique characteristics enhance the natural beauty of timber doors, kitchens, panels and furniture throughout the Australian and world markets. Tasmanian Oak Veneer comes from the following wood species: Eucalyptus regnans, Eucalyptus delegatensis and Eucalyptus oblique. Gunns Limited - Tasmania is Australia’s largest producer of sliced decorative hardwood veneers producing around 12 million m2 per annum. SUSTAINABLE FORESTS & OUR COMMITTMENTSustainable ForestsGunns New Zealand has built strong relationships with timber suppliers to ensure adherence to our strict quality specifications and the supply of FSC certified timber. We are currently working with SmartWood and Agriquality to gain FSC Certification. All four Gunns veneer sites are members of the Decorative Wood Veneer Association of Australia, which focuses on best practice in the Veneer and Panel Industries. Gunns Limited is committed to sustainable forest management and was the first Australian organisation to gain ISO 14001 in Environmental Management Systems (1998) and the first organisation to gain certification to the Australian Forestry Standard (AS4708) (2003). During 2004 certification was also gained under the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification schemes (PEFC) and The Chain of Custody Standard.
